The Colorado Association for
Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (COAHPERD) is a non-profit
organization composed of between 500-700 educators and college students majoring
in one of the above areas.
COAHPERD provides an annual convention in October, preconvention and outreach workshops, publications designed to
inform and enhance the work of members, and a lobbyist at the state legislature.
COAHPERD, in conjunction with the Colorado Department of Education, played a vital
role in the establishment and writing of content standards for physical education
in Colorado.
COAHPERD has a well established and highly effective
collaboration with the Colorado and Wyoming division of the American Heart
Association, especially through the Jump Rope and Hoops for Heart programs.
The COAHPERD Executive Board meets five times yearly (November, January, March,
May and September). For more information about COAHPERD email the Executive
Director, Randy Erickson, at randy@coahperd.org.
