Stephen Silverman, Ph.D., is Professor of Education and Chair of the Department of Biobehavioral Sciences at Teachers College, Columbia University. His work focuses on teaching and research methodology in physical education. (More Information)
Description:
This web-based conference will be of interest to graduate students and their advisers. It will focus on planning training and developing a research career. The focus on training will go beyond method and discuss other factors that students and advisors should address so that the new researcher is fully prepared for a career. Dr. Silverman was a member of the Spencer Foundation national task force on the preparation of educational researchers that recently released a report that addresses multiple universes that require preparation and these will be integrated into the talk. He will also discuss strategies for developing a research program and maintaining productivity as a new or seasoned faculty member and contextualize this in light of institutional differences.
Dr. Silverman’s presentation will include a 30-minute Q & A session.

Registration includes access to an archive of the webinar for future reference and use by the purchasing individual. A link to the archive will be sent to the registering individual following the webinar.
Registration Fee:

Fees listed are per site. Multiple individuals may participate. Each registration includes live access via one Internet connection and access to the archived presentation. Audio access through your computer is also included. If you need to access audio through the telephone it will be a toll call. If participating in a group from a large room, a speakerphone would be helpful.
Mailed registrations must be postmarked by September 24. Faxed and Online Registrations will be accepted through October 1.
Cancellation Policy:
Full refunds minus a $25 processing fee will be issued for requests received by October 1.
