NASPE PIPEline Workshops
Instructional Practices: K-12 Physical Education
The Instructional Practices: K-12 Physical Education PIPEline workshop is designed to enhance physical educators' knowledge about current "best practices" in teaching K-12 physical education, that is, those instructional strategies considered to be effective in facilitating student learning in physical education at the elementary, middle and high school levels. Demonstration lessons highlight standards-based instruction and developmentally appropriate practices. Motor skill and movement concept development are explored, while physical fitness and assessment of student learning are also emphasized within the lessons. The role of varied teaching styles in fostering students' personal and social responsibility and critical thinking are also examined during demonstration lessons. Workshop participants receive a resource book with ready-to-use instructional materials.
